Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed a missile strike on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea city of Jizan on July 25, saying the attack set fires at an Aramco refinery as Saudi civil defense issued warnings in Jizan and Yanbu. A video verified by AFP showed dark smoke rising over the facility. The strike followed Saudi attacks a day earlier on Houthi targets in Hodeida and on Kamaran Island, according to a Yemeni security source. The latest exchange deepens a conflict that had been largely frozen since a 2022 UN-brokered truce. It also opens a new front in a broader regional confrontation, after the Houthis this week declared a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and struck Saudi tankers in the Red Sea.
