Prabowo inaugurates first-phase revamp of Semarang Tawang Station

The heritage station was restored over 240 days, with work on drainage, the main hall, VIP room and waiting areas.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the first-phase revitalization of Semarang Tawang Station in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday. The heritage building, standing since 1914, was restored by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 4 Semarang over 240 days, from May 5 to December 30, 2025. The initial work included rearranging the luxury waiting room, VIP room, main hall, corridor repairs and upgrades to the drainage system to reduce pooling and flooding during the rainy season. Data presented at the site showed Tawang Station ranked as the fourth-busiest station in Indonesia in Semester I 2026, with more than 2,15 million passenger activities and a 99,45 percent on-time departure rate.
