ESDM on alert as oil swings hit; fuel, LPG imports diversified

Officials say the alert posture has been in place since the February 2026 energy crisis, alongside larger stocks to protect supply.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said Indonesia remains on alert to face swings in global oil prices amid geopolitical turmoil. Ministry spokesman Dwi Anggia said the strategy has been in place since the global energy crisis in February 2026. The government is diversifying import sources for crude oil, fuel and LPG, while strengthening energy stocks so supplies for the public remain available. According to Anggia, higher oil prices could also increase state revenue because Indonesia still produces around 600,000 barrels of oil per day, mainly through PNBP from crude oil sales. On 23 July 2026, WTI rose more than 6 percent to above 92 US dollars per barrel, while Brent climbed past 100 US dollars per barrel.
