Iran widens Gulf strikes as Hormuz closure deepens US conflict

Iran expanded missile and drone attacks across the Gulf on July 12, targeting US-linked military sites in Jordan, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar as fighting with the United States intensified and Tehran again moved to shut the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the waterway would stay closed until US interference ends, after a warning shot hit a vessel on what Tehran called an unapproved route and a second ship was later disabled. US Central Command said commercial traffic was still moving through the strait and said US forces struck 140 Iranian military targets on July 11. Qatar said falling shrapnel injured three people, including a child. India said 10 of 11 nationals aboard the GFS Galaxy off Oman were rescued, with one still missing.
