25-year-old man arrested after killing ojol driver in Tangerang
Police say RD stabbed the victim after a motorcycle theft attempt failed, then charged him under Articles 338 and 365 of the Criminal Code.
A joint team from Polda Metro Jaya arrested RD, also known as D, 25, a suspect in the killing and violent theft of online motorcycle taxi driver ATP in Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten. RD was arrested early Tuesday at a rented house on Jalan Bunderan Kamal, Kamal Muara, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Police said the incident took place on Sunday at about 03.50 WIB at the ojol base in Perumahan Vila Taman Bandara, Dadap, Kosambi. The victim died at the scene from a stab wound to the neck, while the Honda PCX motorcycle and his cellphone were taken. Based on questioning cited by CNN Indonesia, RD admitted he intended to steal the motorcycle while the victim was asleep, but stabbed him after being caught and resisted. Police charged RD under Article 338 and Article 365 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
