Singapore defends Faishal Ibrahim resignation over messages to woman

What's new: A fitness trainer publicly denied being the woman involved and warned she may sue over viral false claims.

Singapore leaders defended former minister Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim’s resignation after a review of his exchanges with an unidentified woman found his conduct fell below the standards expected of a political office holder. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said the complaint, sent to his office with screenshots and other material, made the matter no longer private. Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said the messages were “objectively, inappropriate and questionable” and that Faishal was given a fair hearing before concluding his position was untenable. Separately, fitness trainer Rasidah Caudal said viral posts wrongly identified her as the woman in the case and said she would consider legal action.
