Trump orders Iran strike response if assassination plot is carried out
What's new: The warning came as Treasury sanctioned an alleged Iranian financier and Iran's foreign minister arrived in Oman for talks.
President Donald Trump said he has given standing orders for the U.S. military to destroy targets across Iran if Tehran carries out an assassination attempt against him. In a late Friday Truth Social post, Trump wrote that 1,000 missiles were "locked and loaded" and more would follow if Iran acted on what he called repeated threats. The warning followed reports that Israeli intelligence had shared information with U.S. officials about an alleged Iranian plot. It also came as the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on an alleged Iranian financier and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Oman, which has been mediating talks tied to the war.
