US, Iran set Friday Geneva signing after 60-day ceasefire deal

The United States and Iran are moving toward a Friday signing ceremony in Geneva after reaching a preliminary agreement that extends their ceasefire for 60 days and opens talks on Tehran's nuclear program. Vice President JD Vance said major technical issues remain unresolved, including how Iran would destroy or remove its stockpile of highly enriched material. He said the framework also aims to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on a toll-free basis for the long term. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to join the talks, and parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf could also take part. A senior US official said President Donald Trump, Vance and Ghalibaf have already signed a memorandum of understanding, though the text has not yet been released.
