Bangkok pub fire kills at least 27 after blast traps patrons
What’s next: Investigators are examining reports of smoke at a circuit breaker near the stage before a blast and power outage.
A fire tore through a pub in Bangkok just after midnight Monday, killing at least 27 people and sending others to hospitals before firefighters contained the blaze in about 30 minutes. The venue, identified by local reports as Na Ladprao or Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao, is in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said a musician performing at the pub saw smoke coming from a circuit breaker near the stage before the power went out and a blast followed. He said many victims were found near restrooms at the back of the building after people tried to escape the smoke and flames. Images from the scene showed the interior burned and blackened.
