Yemen’s Houthi movement attacked Saudi oil targets and tankers tied to Red Sea shipping, opening a new front in the regional war as trade through the Strait of Hormuz remains heavily disrupted. Saudi state media confirmed one Saudi oil tanker caught fire after an assault in the Red Sea, while Reuters-verified video showed smoke rising near Aramco facilities in Jizan. The Houthis also said they struck sites in Jizan and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia’s main Red Sea oil port. The escalation threatens two of the world’s key energy chokepoints at once, with analysts estimating the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb together handle about a quarter of global oil supply.
