Houthi hit Abha Airport after Sanaa airport is bombed
The attack would be the first Houthi strike on Saudi Arabia since an informal truce took effect in March 2022.
Houthi in Yemen said they launched ballistic missiles and drones at Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia on Monday (13/7), in retaliation for an attack on the runway at Sanaa International Airport. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said Abha was targeted after the group accused Saudi Arabia of striking the airport in the Yemeni capital it controls. The internationally recognized Yemeni government acknowledged the strike on Sanaa and said the move aimed to prevent an Iranian plane carrying a Houthi delegation from landing. Houthi warned airlines not to cross Saudi airspace until the “siege” on Sanaa Airport is lifted. Reuters reported that the Saudi government communications office did not respond to a request for comment.
