Prabowo backs opening of IIM and IIT campuses in Indonesia
Modi said IIM Bengaluru will soon open a campus, while Indonesia also wants to send more students to India.
President Prabowo Subianto backed the establishment of Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) campuses and explored the presence of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in Indonesia during a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Tuesday. Prabowo said the move was part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in education, research, technology, culture and people-to-people ties. The Indonesian government also is encouraging more Indonesian students to continue their studies in India. On the Indian side, Modi said IIM Bengaluru will soon open a campus in Indonesia. The two countries also designated 2026-2027 as the Tagore-Dewantara Year for cultural and educational diplomacy.
