M6.7 quake in Sulteng kills 1 resident, hits 312 people

Authorities in Sigi reported the fatality as aftershocks continued and damage to homes rose to 67 units.

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Sulawesi Tengah killed one resident in Kabupaten Sigi and affected 312 people, or 110 households. BNPB said as of Tuesday night that 25 people suffered minor injuries and 13 were seriously injured, with the heaviest impact in Sigi, which recorded 272 people affected. Preliminary damage includes 67 homes, consisting of 26 lightly damaged, six moderately damaged and 12 severely damaged. Other facilities affected included houses of worship, office buildings, bridges, hotels and businesses. BMKG said the quake was centered on land at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 42 kilometers southeast of Palu. Aftershocks continued, with BMKG recording dozens of them, while landslides and road damage disrupted access in Sigi.
