Saudi strikes 2 Houthi sites in Hodeidah, 2 injured
The strikes follow Houthi threats to commercial shipping and could heighten tensions as the Red Sea grows vital to Saudi oil exports.
Saudi Arabia struck two Houthi-linked sites in Yemen's Hodeidah Province on Friday (24/7), and at least two people were reported injured. Yemeni security sources said the targets included a naval base in Hodeidah and a military camp on Kamaran Island, as well as an area near the eastern gate of Hodeidah Port and Ras al-Khatib. Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported the injured were a worker in Hodeidah and a woman on Kamaran Island. The Saudi-led coalition said the attack was a response to Houthi threats to commercial shipping in the Red Sea, after the group attacked two Saudi vessels this week. The Houthi then warned that the strike was a “dangerous escalation” and said Saudi action would not go unanswered.
